Sid’s squad winner, Laetitia Corbett tells us about her Kona prep

It’s now one week until we will be in Kona! We are very excited to be heading out there and know our Parcours age group athletes can’t wait to touch down on the island for the biggest of races. Given we’re now in the final build up we thought it would be a good idea to check in with our Laetitia Corbett, Sid’s squad 2021 winner. We will hear how her summer has been and what final prep they will be doing now to ensure they have the best race possible come Kona!

1.What are you most excited about racing in Kona?

That it will be a female predominant race. I just think it is so exciting that there will be thousands of us females all lined up for the start on theThursday. I think it’s such a huge statement for us in sport. Also I’m mega excited for the beautiful swim and the electric sound on the run course.

2. What has your preparation for Kona looked like this year?

In the last couple of weeks I’m spending more time in the sauna getting use to the heat and sitting on the turbo without doors open or fans on, oh and a hoodie on to! Im feeling pretty good in myself going into the next month and feel like I’m in the best shape possible to have a really fun day in Kona, huge thanks to Sid.

3. How has your season been so far?

This year I haven’t raced as much as last year which was a shame but I have done two very fun races. The first was Aix-en-Provence 70.3 where I went with a group of my friends from La Ciotat and we had such a fun day out. It has to be the most fun I’ve ever had at an event, the atmosphere was amazing and to be doing it with so many friends. I came 3rd in my age group which was a lovely bonus.

The second race I did was a lovely local standard distance triathlon in Felixstowe which consisted of the dirtiest sea water in the uk, a seriously fun tide assisted swim, rolling bike and super fast flat run. I won the event overall which was very cool.

4. How are you feeling a month out from Kona?

I don’t know if I’m more nervous for the heat or more excited to be in Hawaii!! I absolutely can not wait to get out there, I’m mega pumped to meet up with Sid, everyone from Parcours and all the other partners who made Sid Squad possible to be able to actually say a huge thank you in person too.

5. How have you found your Parcours wheels this year for racing?

I love racing on my parcours wheels. They never disappoint. They work perfectly and look so damn cool, I am always asked about them.

Good luck for Kona Laetitia, we can’t wait to cheer you on!
